Pantry Shuffle Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and the people who run Pantry Shuffle (“we”, “us”). They cover the Pantry Shuffle iPhone app, the service behind it and this website. By creating an account, or by using the app without one, you agree to them. How we handle your information is described separately in the privacy policy. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app itself; Apple is not responsible for Pantry Shuffle or its content.

Who can use Pantry Shuffle

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You can't use Pantry Shuffle if we've previously removed you from it.

Your account

• Give accurate sign-up information, and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account; if you think someone else has access, tell us.
• One person per account. Don't create accounts to get around a ban, a block or the posting limits.
• Handles and display names must follow the community rules below. Don't impersonate anyone, including other users, public figures, brands or us.

Community rules

Pantry Shuffle is for sharing food people can actually cook. You may not post — in recipes, photos, profiles, reports or anything else — or do any of the following:

• Hate speech, slurs, or attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar characteristics.
• Harassment, bullying, threats, or encouraging anyone to harm themselves or others.
• Sexual or sexually suggestive content, nudity, or graphic violence or gore.
• Anything that endangers children.
• “Recipes” that aren't food, or that are designed to cause harm: poisons, drugs, weapons, or instructions that are deliberately unsafe.
• Other people's personal information, such as addresses, phone numbers or private photos.
• Spam, advertising, links meant to sell or promote something, scams, or misleading content.
• Content you don't have the rights to post — for example, photos or recipe write-ups copied from a cookbook, blog or another user.
• Anything illegal, or that encourages illegal activity.
• Interfering with the service: scraping it in bulk, probing it for vulnerabilities, overloading it, or getting around rate limits, blocks or moderation.

We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Breaking these rules gets content removed and, depending on how serious it is, the account suspended or permanently banned — without warning for serious cases.

Reports, blocks and moderation

• Report any recipe, photo or profile from inside the app. We review reports within 24 hours and remove content that breaks these rules.
• Block any user to hide everything they post from you, everywhere in the app. They aren't notified.
• Published text is automatically checked for abusive terms and spam. A match flags the item for a person to review; photos are reviewed by a moderator before anyone else sees them.
• We may remove any content or suspend any account that we believe breaks these terms or puts people at risk. If you think we got it wrong, email us and we'll take another look.

Your content

You keep ownership of the recipes, photos and other content you post. By posting, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, resize and re-format, display and distribute it, in order to run, show and improve Pantry Shuffle — including showing published recipes to other people and letting them rate, save, scale, convert and cook from them. Other users can publish their own variations that link to your recipe.

Published recipes stay up after you delete your account, credited to “[deleted]”, and the license continues for them. If you don't want a recipe to remain, delete it before deleting your account; the license then ends, apart from copies in our backups (kept up to 14 days) and anything other people saved or copied. Details are in the privacy policy.

You promise that you have the right to post what you post, and that it follows these terms. Ingredient lists are generally free to share, but photos and written instructions usually belong to whoever made them — post your own.

Copyright complaints

If you believe something in Pantry Shuffle infringes your copyright, email support@pantryshuffle.com with: what the work is, where it appears in the app (the recipe's title and author handle), your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, and a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for them. We remove infringing content and ban repeat infringers.

Recipes, allergies and food safety

Recipes on Pantry Shuffle are written by users and by us, and none of them has been tested or verified by us. Nothing in the app is medical, nutritional or dietary advice.

Allergen badges and allergy filtering are a convenience, not a guarantee. Allergen information is derived from ingredient lists, which can be wrong, incomplete or change, and packaged ingredients vary by brand and region. If you or anyone you cook for has a food allergy or intolerance, always read the actual ingredient list of everything you use, and never rely on the app to decide that a dish is safe.

Use your own judgment in the kitchen: follow safe food-handling and cooking temperatures, and take care with knives, heat and appliances. Cooking times, servings and unit conversions are estimates.

The service

We're working to keep Pantry Shuffle running well, but we may change, add or remove features, limit how much you can post (new accounts have daily posting limits), or stop offering all or part of the service. We may add advertising in a future version; if we do, the privacy policy is updated first.

Disclaimers

Pantry Shuffle is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied — including that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any recipe, allergen label or conversion is accurate, complete or suitable for you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Pantry Shuffle or anything posted in it — including illness, allergic reactions or injury from preparing or eating a recipe. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to US$50. Some places don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you; nothing here limits rights you have that can't be waived.

Ending things

You can stop using Pantry Shuffle at any time and delete your account in the app: Profile › Settings › Delete Account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we stop running the service. The sections on your content's license (for recipes that stay published), disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law continue after that.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll tell you in the app or on this site before they take effect. If you keep using Pantry Shuffle after that, the updated terms apply; if you don't agree, stop using it and delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law where you live requires otherwise.
